{"id":127,"date":"2009-04-03T18:02:56","date_gmt":"2009-04-03T22:02:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.easterbrook.ca\/steve\/?p=127"},"modified":"2009-07-22T10:05:32","modified_gmt":"2009-07-22T14:05:32","slug":"collective-intelligence-for-global-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.easterbrook.ca\/steve\/2009\/04\/collective-intelligence-for-global-change\/","title":{"rendered":"Collective Intelligence for Global Change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just spent the last two hours chewing the fat with <a title=\"Mark Klein's blog\" href=\"http:\/\/markklein.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Klein<\/a> at MIT and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.marktovey.ca\/\">Mark Tovey<\/a>\u00a0at Carleton, talking about all sorts of ideas, but loosely focussed on how distributed collaborative modeling efforts can help address global change issues (e.g. climate, peak oil, sustainability).<\/p>\n<p>MK has a project, <a title=\"Climate Interactive\" href=\"http:\/\/climateinteractive.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Climate Interactive<\/span><\/a>,[<strong>update<\/strong>: Mark tells me I got the wrong project &#8211; it should be <a title=\"Climate Collaboratorium project\" href=\"http:\/\/cci.mit.edu\/research\/climate.html\" target=\"_blank\">The Climate Collaboratorium<\/a>. Climate Interactive is from a different group at MIT] which is exploring how climate simulation tools can be hooked up to discussions around decision making, which is one of the ideas we kicked around in our brainstorming sessions here.<\/p>\n<p>MT has\u00a0been exploring how you take ideas from distributed cognition and scale them up to much larger teams of people.
