Abstracts are due by September 3. The following sessions caught my attention:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Session description for ED12\" href=\"http:\/\/www.agu.org\/meetings\/fm09\/program\/scientific_session_search.php?show=detail&amp;sessid=429\" target=\"_blank\">ED12: Using Web 2.0 Technologies to Facilitate Science Communications.<\/a> (We could submit an abstract describing some of the <a title=\"List of tools our students are developing this summer\" href=\"http:\/\/www.easterbrook.ca\/steve\/?p=747\" target=\"_blank\">tools<\/a> we&#8217;ve been building);<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"GC03 session description\" href=\"http:\/\/www.agu.org\/meetings\/fm09\/program\/scientific_session_search.php?show=detail&amp;sessid=153\" target=\"_blank\">GC03: Methodologies of Climate Model Confirmation and Interpretation<\/a> (A great place for Jon to present the results of <a title=\"Jon's current research plan\" href=\"http:\/\/skoolr.blogspot.com\/2009\/06\/one-page-summary-of-my-research-plan.html\" target=\"_blank\">his study<\/a> on how climate scientists come to trust their code)<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"IN06 session description\" href=\"http:\/\/www.agu.org\/meetings\/fm09\/program\/scientific_session_search.php?show=detail&amp;sessid=277\" target=\"_blank\">IN06:\tThe Management and Dissemination of Earth and Space Science Models<\/a> (Another chance for me to talk about the findings from my <a title=\"Engineering the software for understanding climate change (PDF)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cs.toronto.edu\/~sme\/papers\/2008\/Easterbrook-Johns-2008.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Hadley study<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"IN07 session description\" href=\"http:\/\/www.agu.org\/meetings\/fm09\/program\/scientific_session_search.php?show=detail&amp;sessid=306\" target=\"_blank\">IN07:\tEarth Science Software Reuse: Experiences and Challenges<\/a> (lots of things I could say, but probably not enough material for a real abstract)<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"IN11 session details\" href=\"http:\/\/www.agu.org\/meetings\/fm09\/index.php\/Program\/SessionSearch\/?show=detail&amp;sessid=443\" target=\"_blank\">IN11:\tChallenges in Achieving Earth System Model Interoperability<\/a> (One for <a title=\"Carolyn's blog post on thesis ideas\" href=\"http:\/\/carolynresearch.wordpress.com\/2009\/06\/10\/posts\/\" target=\"_blank\">Carolyn&#8217;s work<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"IN13 session details\" href=\"http:\/\/www.agu.org\/meetings\/fm09\/index.php\/Program\/SessionSearch\/?show=detail&amp;sessid=474\" target=\"_blank\">IN13:\tEmerging Issues in e-Science: Collaboration, Provenance, and the Ethics of Data<\/a> (I&#8217;d want to hang out at this one and hear what people have to say; might be a good place for Alicia to present <a title=\"Alicia's elevator pitch\" href=\"http:\/\/normallyon.wordpress.com\/2009\/04\/20\/new-elevator-pitch\/\" target=\"_blank\">her work<\/a> too)<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"IN17 session details\" href=\"http:\/\/www.agu.org\/meetings\/fm09\/program\/scientific_session_search.php?show=detail&amp;sessid=593\" target=\"_blank\">IN17:\tData and Informatics for Environmental Decision Making<\/a> (ditto)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Plus some sessions that sound generally interesting:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"A44 session details\" href=\"http:\/\/www.agu.org\/meetings\/fm09\/program\/scientific_session_search.php?show=detail&amp;sessid=117\" target=\"_blank\">A44:\tTowards a Policy-Relevant, Open and Transparent Global Greenhouse Gas Monitoring and Information System (GHGIS)<\/a> (Sounds like a fascinating requirements analysis project)<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"ED07 session details\" href=\"ttp:\/\/www.agu.org\/meetings\/fm09\/program\/scientific_session_search.php?show=detail&amp;sessid=325\" target=\"_blank\">ED07: Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Education<\/a> (relevant to the <a title=\"Jon's blog post on ideas for educational tools\" href=\"http:\/\/skoolr.blogspot.com\/2009\/01\/3rd-week-in-status-report.html\" target=\"_blank\">stuff<\/a> Jon and I were talking about earlier this year on climate models as educational tools)<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"IN12 session details\" href=\"http:\/\/www.agu.org\/meetings\/fm09\/index.php\/Program\/SessionSearch\/?show=detail&amp;sessid=473\" target=\"_blank\">IN12:\tSemantic eScience<\/a> (because I&#8217;m a sucker for social epistemology)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve just been browsing the sessions for the AGU Fall Meeting, to be held in San Francisco in December.
