I won&#8217;t be able to make it to all of them (I&#8217;m trying to cut down on travel, for various reasons), but they all look tempting:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a title=\"First International Workshop on Climate Informatics\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nyas.org\/Events\/Detail.aspx?cid=462a8558-34c0-4e9e-8cca-97ffda5bf7a3\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>First International Workshop on Climate Informatics<\/strong><\/a>, at the New York Academy of Sciences,<strong> August 26, 2011<\/strong>. This is organised jointly by Columbia University and NASA GISS, and aims to bring together folks working in computational intelligence and climate science. Unfortunately, I can&#8217;t go, it&#8217;s family vacation time. Hope there&#8217;s another next year&#8230;<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"NCAR's Computing in Atmospheric Sciences Workshop\" href=\"http:\/\/cisl.ucar.edu\/dir\/CAS2K11\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Computing in Atmospheric Sciences Workshop<\/strong><\/a>, in Annecy, France, <strong>Sept 11-14, 2011<\/strong>. I&#8217;ve been invited to speak at this one. Gotta register this week to get the cheaper registration&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>the World Climate Research Program&#8217;s <a title=\"WCRP Open Science Conference\" href=\"http:\/\/conference2011.wcrp-climate.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Open Science Conference, &#8220;Climate Research in Service to Society&#8221;<\/strong><\/a>, in Denver, USA, <strong>Oct 24-28, 2011<\/strong>. I&#8217;ll be going to this one, to present a poster on the work of the <a title=\"Surface Temperatures Benchmarking and Assessment\" href=\"http:\/\/surftempbenchmarking.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Benchmarking and Assessment Working Group<\/a> of the WMO&#8217;s Surface Temperature Initiative.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And then of course, in December, it&#8217;s the <a title=\"AGU Fall Meeting Main website\" href=\"http:\/\/sites.agu.org\/fallmeeting\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>AGU Fall Meeting<\/strong><\/a>. Abstracts are due tomorrow, so we&#8217;ll be busy for the next 24 hours. Here&#8217;s a selection of conference tracks that look fascinating to me. Methodologies of Climate Model Evaluation, Confirmation and Interpretation<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Of course, the Informatics sessions are where all the action is.
