{"id":115,"date":"2009-03-22T15:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-03-22T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.easterbrook.ca\/steve\/?p=115"},"modified":"2009-03-27T13:14:24","modified_gmt":"2009-03-27T17:14:24","slug":"some-upcoming-climate-conferences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.easterbrook.ca\/steve\/2009\/03\/some-upcoming-climate-conferences\/","title":{"rendered":"Some upcoming climate conferences"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>First a couple of local ones, in May:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cctc2009.ca\/en\/index.html\">The 2nd Climate Change Technology Conference\u00a0<\/a>in Hamilton, in May (actually the few days before ICSE).<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.agu.org\/meetings\/ja09\/\">AGU 2009 Joint Assembly\u00a0<\/a>which will be held in Toronto at the end of May (the week after ICSE).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Then, this one looks interesting: <a title=\"World Climate Conference About\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wmo.int\/wcc3\/page_en.php\" target=\"_blank\">The World Climate Conference<\/a>, in Geneva at the end of August. It looks like most of the program will be invited, but they will be <a title=\"WCC-3 Abstracts\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wmo.int\/wcc3\/abstracts_en.php\" target=\"_blank\">accepting abstracts<\/a> for a poster session. Given that the theme is to do with how climate information is generated and used, it sounds very appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>Followed almost immediately by <a title=\"EnviroInfo2009\" href=\"http:\/\/www.enviroinfo2009.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">EnviroInfo2009<\/a>, in Berlin, in September. I guess the field I want to name &#8220;Climate Informatics&#8221; would be a subfield of environmental informatics. <a title=\"EnviroInfo2009 paper deadline\" href=\"http:\/\/www.enviroinfo2009.org\/node\/27\" target=\"_blank\">Paper deadline is April 6<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, there&#8217;s the biggy in <a title=\"Copenhagen climate conference\" href=\"http:\/\/en.cop15.dk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Copenhagen in December<\/a>, where, hopefully, the successor to the Kyoto agreement will be negotiated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First a couple of local ones, in May: The 2nd Climate Change Technology Conference\u00a0in Hamilton, in May (actually the few days before ICSE).
